Japanese architect Hiroki Tanabe designed this dental clinic and residence located in the suburbs of Nagano, Japan, in a beautiful farm village surrounded by rice fields and peach orchards.
A concrete plate forms a zigzag structure that makes up three volumes and two open courtyards. Each volume has different functions inside: residence, clinic and waiting lounge. The courtyard are glass boxes used as pathways and entry halls between two adjacent volumes.
